University of Washington Hires Two Associate Ombuds

The University of Washington has appointed two Associate Ombuds. Diana Cooke and Marguerite Dorn will join Ashley Davis and report to the University Ombud, Chuck Sloane. (This office consistently uses "Ombud" rather than "Ombuds.") Cooke is the first Associate Ombud dedicated to the UW’s medical campuses which make up more than a third of the office’s cases each year. Marguerite Dorn is also an Associate Ombud, and her work will be focused on UW’s faculty and staff. (UW Ombud Office.)

Cooke comes to UW from MWI, where she has worked in a consulting capacity as an Ombuds, mediator, trainer, and coach since 2018. In addition, she has been an adjunct faculty member at the Suffolk University Law School, teaching classes on negotiation for the past five years. Cooke graduated from the University of New Hampshire and earned a JD from Suffolk University Law School. (LinkedIn.)

Prior to joining UW, Dorn established the Faculty Ombuds position at Providence College in May 2024. She has held law school teaching and programming positions, and she started one of the first international human rights clinical programs at Suffolk University Law School. She holds certificates in mediation, conflict coaching and restorative justice practices. Dorn earned her BA and JD from Boston College. (LinkedIn.)
