Former Ombuds Returns to University of Minnesota

In July, Michael V. Huyen was named the Assistant Director for the Student Conflict Resolution Center and Ombudsman at UM. Huyen served as an Ombuds at the university in 1990-1994 and then worked private sector working in the field of employee relations and operations. 

In his role as Ombudsman at SCRC, Huyen will serve as liaison between students and departments, colleges, program areas or administration. He will work to resolve academic and university service issues, as well as serve as a member of the SCRC Work Group supporting Academic Civility at the University. He will also contribute to the development and delivery of workshops and orientation programs to numerous student and faculty groups. Huyen earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. After leaving UM, he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and Northwest Airlines. (LinkedIn.)
