IOA Publishes Consultant Directory

The International Ombudsman Association has unveiled its Directory of Ombuds Service Providers. The directory includes IOA members who offer a range of services, from training to hiring support to ombuds database development. The OSPD Steering Committee says that additional service providers will be added and the format of the directory will continue to be enhanced.

The initial directory includes six service providers:

Karey R. Barnes, Director of Judicial Affairs and Conflict Resolution Services/ Ombudsperson, South Texas College
Andrew Cohn, President, Lighthouse Consulting LLC
Alan Jay Lincoln, Ph.D., Professor/Ombuds Emeritus, University of Massachusetts Lowell
Georgia Shaver, Adjunct Professor, American University of Rome
Randy Williams and Arlene Redmond, Managing Directors, Redmond, Williams & Associates, LLC

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.

Croatia -- pravobranitelji

France -- médiateur/defénseur

Germany -- Ombudspersonen
