University of Kentucky Reappoints Ombuds

The public university in Lexington has announced that law professor Michael P. Healy, will serve a second term as Academic Ombud. Healy's new term will begin July 1, 2015 and will continue through June 30, 2016. The Office of Academic Ombud Services at UK assisting 40,000 students and instructional staff with academic problems and conflicts. (UKLaw News.)

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals.
