IOA Training Returns to Southern California

The International Ombudsman Association will offer several training opportunities for and about Organizational Ombuds in Costa Mesa July 13-17, 2015. The programs include introductory, intermediate and advanced topics.


Three-Day Courses
July 13-15

Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice 

This course benefits the recently appointed ombudsman, individuals interested in becoming an ombudsman or anyone desiring to establish an ombudsman function in industry, government, higher education, and public or private social services agencies.

Organizational Ombudsman Practitioners Series
In the absence of formal Organizational Ombudsman (OO) education and  training, practitioners commonly draw from their own educational and professional backgrounds for applicable approaches and knowledge.  This three-day course explores proven academic theories and professional techniques that help OO practitioners work effectively with visitors and respondents.   Prerequisites: Completion of Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice Course (above) and IOA Member or Associate Member status; or by consent of the instructors.  

Instructors: Sean Banks, Director of Ombuds Services and Corporate Ombuds for the Shell Oil Company; Donna Louden, Ombuds at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; and Belinda Newman, Ombuds at the University of North Texas


One-Day Course
July 17

Creating a Roadmap to Address Workplace Bullying
