John W. Zinsser has been appointed Chief Ombudsman for the international humanitarian organization. Based in Geneva, he will lead an office that serves ICRC staff in Europe, Central Asia and the Americas. Zinsser
said, “ I am honored to lead the ICRC Ombuds Network and further advance the
program’s alignment, embedment, and integration. Teaming with everyone at the
organization is a pinnacle opportunity.”
Zinsser is a long-time advocate and consultant for Organizational Ombuds. For the past 26 years, he has been a principal of Pacifica Human Communications. In addition, he has been a lecturer at Columbia University, where he teaches two master’s level classes about Ombuds--which he will continue to teach. Zinsser graduated from Kenyon College and earned a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution from Antioch University. He serves on a variety of boards and committees, including the ABA Ombuds Committee.
