Public Safety Canada Names Next Ombuds

Rachel Richardson has been selected as the next Ombuds for Sécurité publique Canada, the department responsible for public safety, emergency management, national security, and emergency preparedness in Canada. She follows Manda Noble-Green, who moved to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada at the end of 2024. 

Richardson has worked in government positions for over 15 years. She began her career as Canadian Forces Welfare and Morale Promotion - Deployed Operations Canadian Forces Welfare and Morale Promotion - Deployed Operations with Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services deployed in Kandahar, Afghanistan. During a decade at Parks Canada, she rose to Acting Ombuds and Director of the Conflict Management Office. For the past two years, she has been the Manager of the Centre of Expertise in Restorative Services for the Department of National Defence. Richardson graduated from Memorial University and earned an MPA at the Royal Military College of Canada. (LinkedIn.)
