Meet Atlanta's Neighborhood Ombuds

A new webpage for Atlanta reveals that the city has appointed two Neighborhood Relations Managers to its Office of Neighborhood Ombuds: Amber Ware and Clyde Mitchell. As Neighborhood Relations Managers, they serve as External Ombuds for residents and neighborhood stakeholders with issues involving city government and programs.

Ware joined the office in April 2024 after a career in customer and merchant relations for financial services companies. She earned bachelor's degrees from Florida A&M University and the University of Georgia. Mitchell brings extensive experience in public administration, higher education, financial services, and local government, including work for the Georgia Department of Driver Services. In addition, he has held leadership positions in local politics. Mitchell graduated from South Carolina State University and erned an MBA from Northcentral University. Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
