The international educational organization has named Indu Sen, the current Ombuds for the University of California, Riverside as the new IB Ombudsman effective January 1, 2011. Anthony Flatley, former head of an IB World School in Quebec, Canada and former member of the IB Board of Governors, founded the office in August 2007 and will step down at the end of the year.
IB touted Sen's resume in an announcement earlier this week:
Indu is a highly qualified Ombudsman who has a wealth of practical experience in the field of dispute resolution. Prior to assuming the IB Ombudsman role, she was the Ombudsman and the Director of the Office of the Ombudsman at the University of California, Riverside. Throughout her career she has pioneered innovative methods in conflict resolution including developing online dispute resolution platforms with the goal of enabling participants to resolve issues and conflicts in a fair and equitable manner. She is a Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner under the International Ombudsman Association (IOA), and sits on several committees at the IOA.
As the IB's Ombuds, Sen will serve primarily staff at 12 offices around the world. (International Baccalaureate News.)
