IBIDELL Names Next Ombuds

On July 21, 2020, IDIBELL (Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge), appointed Anna Veiga Lluch as its next Ombudsperson. She takes over the post from F. Xavier Bosch, who established the role in 2015. Viega will serve over 1,000 employees of the biomedical research center in Barcelona. In a video, Viega introduces herself to the institute.

Veiga is a biologist whose research focuses on assisted reproduction, clinical embryology, reproductive genetics and bioethics; as well as in the study of stem cells and their clinical applications in the treatment of degenerative diseases. She is the Director of the Barcelona Stem Cell Bank, heads her own research group at IBIDELL and is an Associate Professor at the Pompeu Fabra University. Viega earned her PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
