Earlier today, the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association opened the African Ombudsman Research Centre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The center will study, support and archive information on issues related to the ombudsman institution in Africa.
The opening was highlighted by an address from SA President Jacob Zuma, who said that the South African government respected the work of the public protector even if it disagreed with its findings. (South African Govt. Info.; South African Times Live.)
