University of Memphis Appoints New Ombuds

Lawrence A. Pivnick has been named as the next Faculty Senate Ombudsperson for the University of Memphis, succeeding Bill Brody. With the transition, the position's tenure has been realigned to report directly to the university president. Pivnick will "assist all tenured, tenure-track, clinical, research, one-year instructors to resolve complaints with the goal of promoting alternatives to adversarial processes."

Pivnick is a past president of the Faculty Senate and has been a professor in the School of Law since 1976. He graduated from SUNY Buffalo, earned his JD from the University of Florida and an LLM from New York University. (UM Ombuds; Faculty Profile.)
