FCO and ACCUO Seek Submissions for 2017 Joint Conference

In anticipation of its next biennial joint conference, the Forum of Canadian Ombudsman and the Association of Canadian College and University Ombudspersons have issued a call for papers.  The theme of the conference, set for May 15-17, 2017 at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa, will be, "The Work of Ombudsman: Holding Governments and Organizations to Account."


Anticipated keynote speakers include:

  • Paul Dubé, Ontario Ombudsman
  • Kevin Fenwick, Deputy Minister, and Deputy Attorney General, Saskatchewan
  • Madeleine Meilleur, Former MPP for Ottawa/Vanier, minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs and Attorney General Panel on Safeguarding the Independance of Canadian Institutions:
  • Fiona Crean, Hydro One Ombudsman
  • Renu Mandhane, Chief Commissionner, Ontario Human Rights Commission
  • Kevin Page, Chairholder of the Jean-Luc Pepin Research Chair on Canadian Government, University of Ottawa
  • Howard Sapers, Correctional Investigator of Canada
  • Lorne Sossin, Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School (panel moderator)
