Public Services and Procurement Canada Upgrades Ombuds Program

In May, 2025, Judith Brunet was appointed the new Ombuds for Services publics et Approvisionnement Canada, the department responsible for the Government of Canada's internal servicing and administration. This in an expanded position that integrates the responsibilities of the former PSPC Mental Health Ombuds Office (previously held by Mario Baril) and the Office of Shared Ombuds Services (OSOS). Joining Brunet is Mijanoux Beauchamp, previously the Ombuds for the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre (FINTRAC) of Canada, who will now serve as the new Ombuds for Shared Ombuds Services. The newly consolidated Ombuds Office will provide services to over 30,000 individuals across 24 Canadian federal Departments and Agencies, now also including FINTRAC.

As part of this transition: Candice Crystal Rock joins the team as Associate Ombuds for the PSPC Ombuds Office and Katy Kamkar continues in the role of Mental Health Special advisor and Associate Ombuds; and Marilou Lemieux and Shirley Dufour will continue in their roles as Associate Ombuds for OSOS.

Brunet comes to the new role from the Office of Shared Ombuds Services (Canadian Federal Public Services), where she was the Ombuds and Director general for over three years. Prior to that, Brunet was the Ombuds and Director of the Centre for Values and Ethics for Parks Canada for four years. She graduated from HEC Montréal in Business Administration and earned her Master's at Université de Sherbrooke in Management. (LinkedIn.)
