Ombuds for Northern Virginia Community College Adopts AI Statement

The two Ombuds for NOVA, Tanneh Kamara and Shawn Addison , have added a statement to their website about the use of artificial intelligence. They frame the use of AI within IOA standards, especially the commitment to confidentiality. 

This appears to be the first articulation of AI practices by an Ombuds.

The website says, in relevant part:

Use of AI by Office of the Ombuds 

 AI is utilized solely for: 

• Researching training ideas 
• Highlighting data trends related to industry and systemic issues 

AI is not used to: 

• Record or transcribe visitors’ conversations 
• Summarize or share discussion content
