Stephen Colbert Appoints a News Ombudsman

Last week, late night TV talk show host, Stephen Colbert introduced an Ombudsman for his show. This was in response to Paramount's announcement of a Ombudsman for CBS News and Jimmy Kimmel's suspension by ABC. “Apparently, having a conservative overseeing your programming is a way to stay on the air, and I would love to be able to finish out the last season of my show,” Colbert said.

He then introduced a fan-favorite bit from his old show, “The Colbert Report.” Colbert said, “So just to be safe, ‘The Late Show’ has appointed our own ombudsman. He is someone that I’ve known for years. He’s a dear friend with strong conservative credentials. Please welcome my identical cousin and the former host of ‘The Colbert Report,’ Stephen Colbert!” The full sketch is available on YouTube so you can send to your family and friends. This is not the first time that Colbert has talked about an Ombuds. In 2009, he accepted an offer to serve as the Oval Ombuds for the U.S. Olympic speed skating team.
