On Friday, August 8th, Ombudsman throughout the State of Arizona met for their bi-annual meeting. Dr. Eugene Moan, Faculty Ombuds for Northern Arizona University hosted the group’s summer meeting in beautiful Flagstaff.
After a lovely continental breakfast courtesy of NAU, the group received a warm welcome from NAU Provost Dr. Laura Huenneke and spent the rest of the morning attending two presentations: Mental Health First Aid and legal updates on “Duty to Warn” in Arizona. Staff from the Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Authorities provided both presentations.
After a networking lunch, the group shared and discussed real life scenarios to receive input and gain perspective.
Arizona Ombuds informally meet twice a year to network and share information about their respective roles, offices, and organizations as well as discuss particular topics of interest, which are pre-determined and presented on an agenda. The Ombuds voluntarily take turns hosting the meeting at their places of business. (Courtesy of Liz Hill.)
