Canadian and European Higher Ed Ombuds Will Convene in Vienna

For its eighth annual conference next spring, the European Network for Ombudsmen in Higher Education will be joined by Association of Canadian College and University Ombudspersons. The joint ENOHE-ACCUO meeting will take place in Vienna, May 19-21, 2010 and will be hosted by several stakeholder institutions of Austrian higher education. The event will be coordinated by the Office of the Austrian Student Ombudsman and the Austrian National Agency for the Life Long Learning Programme of the European Union.

The theme, "Common objectives, different pathways: Embedding Ombudsman principles and practices into Higher Education institutions," emphasizes ways of resolving disputes fairly by comparing different experiences of higher education Ombuds in a wide variety of settings. The first day of the conference will feature workshops and training session. The final two days of the conference will provide plenary presentations followed by concurrent sessions and reports back to the plenary. More details should be by mid-December 2009. Registration costs for the two-day conference will be approximately € 250.00.
