The original campus of the University System of Maryland is hiring its first Ombudsperson. The new position will work with students, non-represented staff, post-doctorals, fellows, and faculty from six professional programs, including schools of dentistry, law, medicine, pharmacy, social work and nursing, a total population of about 15,000. (Previously, UMB has had an Ombuds for faculty and staff in the School of Nursing.)
Applicants must have a master's degree in related field (JD or PhD preferred), five years' experience in conflict management, mediation, or dispute resolution, and two years' experience working at a professional level within an institution of higher education. Other campuses of the University of Maryland already have Ombuds programs, including UM College Park (Grad Students) and UM University College.
