This week, the academic medical center of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor introduced its new Office of the Staff Ombuds. The office is comprised of Jacqueline Bowman, Staff Ombuds, Jennifer Symanns, Ombuds Assistant and Mediator, and Donna Hooper, Program Specialist. Together, they serve non-academic employees on the Ann Arbor campus and from Michigan Medicine.
Bowman was profiled here previously. Symanns has worked at UM for 24 years, including as a police officer and HR specialist. She is also a Council Member for the City of Ypsilanti. She has been a mediator for over seven years. Symanns graduated from Michigan and earned earned her JD at Wayne State University. Hooper has been a program administrator at UM since 2020.
