IOA Increases Scholarship Opportunities for 2021 Conference

The International Ombudsman Association will offering 14 educational trainings scholarships in 2021. These scholarships will cover the cost of virtual events including the Virtual Foundations of Ombuds Practice Course and the annual conference, "Bridging the Distance: Paving the Way for Equity and Justice" (#IOA2021). The deadline to apply for these scholarships is January 20, 2021.

2021 Virtual Foundations Scholarships 

IOA is offering a new opportunity to support four members who would like to attend a 2021 Virtual Foundations Course. This scholarship will cover the entire cost of the members' registration. If an applicant has already registered for a 2021 Virtual Foundations course they are still able to apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria & Scholarship Requirements
  • Applicants must provide evidence of financial need.
  • Applicants must be an IOA member.
  • Applicants must provide one reference with their contact information in their application. 
  • Recipients must write a brief (1-2 paragraph) summary about your experience for posting on the IOA blog within one week following the foundations course.
After application review, four scholarship recipients will be selected from the pool of eligible applicants. All applicants will be notified in February 2021. 

International Scholarship for #IOA2021

The IOA International Outreach Committee (IOC) is offering financial support to sponsor five organizational ombuds who would like attend the #IOA2021 virtual event, Bridging the Distance: Paving the Way for Equity and Justice. Applicants can be IOA members or prospective members who are working in a country where the profession is not well developed. Through this scholarship initiative, IOA’s overall goal is to provide greater access for practicing organizational ombuds in countries that IOA recognizes would greatly benefit from outreach, support, and development in the ombuds field.

This scholarship will cover the full cost of registration for the #IOA2021 virtual event. Priority will be given to applicants whose participation can be instrumental in the advancement of the organizational ombuds profession in their regions/countries.

Eligibility Criteria & Scholarship Requirements
  • Applicants must be practicing as an organizational ombuds in a country outside of the United States, where the profession is not well developed. Other types of ombuds professionals (i.e. classic ombuds) or other professionals are not eligible.
  • Applicants must provide evidence of financial need.
  • Applicants must provide one reference with their contact information in their application. 
  • IOA membership is not required. Scholarship applicants and recipients are encouraged to consider joining IOA.
After application review, five scholarship recipients will be selected from the pool of eligible applicants. All applicants will be notified in February 2021.

New & Aspiring Ombuds Scholarship for #IOA2021

IOA is offering to support five organizational ombuds to attend the #IOA2021 virtual event, Bridging the Distance: Paving the Way for Equity and Justice. This scholarships is for those who are new to the ombuds field or are seeking to enter it and who do not have organizational or institutional support to attend.

This scholarship will cover the full cost of registration for the #IOA2021 virtual event.

Eligibility Criteria & Scholarship Requirements
  • Applicants must be an IOA member.
  • Applicants must have less than one year of organizational ombuds practice at the time you apply.
  • Applicants must not have additional financial support from your employer or other organization to attend the conference.
  • Applicants must provide one reference with their contact information in their application. 
  • Scholarship recipients must write a brief (1-2 paragraph) summary about their experience for posting on the IOA blog within one week following the conference.
After application review, five scholarship recipients will be randomly selected from eligible applicants. All applicants will be notified in February 2021.
