The United Nations Ombudsman and Mediation Services ("UNOMS") is hiring a Regional Ombudsman based in Goma. The current ranking member of UNOMS is Salif Boïté, a Conflict Resolution Officer. The previous Regional Ombudsman was Youssoupha Niang, who moved up to become the Regional Coordinator in Nairobi, Kenya. The position will provide informal conflict resolution services to UN staff attached to the Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Mission de l'Organisation des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en République démocratique du Congo or "MONUSCO") and other peacekeeping missions in the region.
Applicants must have advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant area or equivalent experience; and at least ten years of professional experience, including five years at the international level.
