IOA Announces First Cohort of Certified Programs

The International Ombuds Association has announced that five Ombuds offices have been certified under its new Program Certification initiative. According to IOA, the offices completed a rigorous review and evaluation process demonstrating alignment with IOA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, organizational integrity, and professional competency.

The newly certified offices are:
  • Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES
  • University of Central Florida
  • University of Nevada, Las Vegas
  • University of North Carolina at Charlotte
  • University of Tennessee, Knoxville
The certification program expands IOA’s professionalization framework beyond individual practitioners for the first time. Certification will be valid for five years and is intended to help offices demonstrate commitment to independence, impartiality, confidentiality, and informality.
