Toshio Akamine: Former Ombuds at Washington State University

Toshio Akamine, who served as the University Ombudsman from 1977 to 1979, passed away on February 13, 2019, in Palo Alto, California at the age of 90. Akamine was a professor of education at WSU from 1967 until his retirement in 1993. Born an educator, Akamine cherished his interactions with students and the mission of education and said, “I wished I would have worked more.” (Moscow-Pullman Daily News.)
