, the public research university and second oldest university in the Netherlands, is hiring its first Ombudsperson. The new position will serve 36,000 students and 7,700 staff members. The 0.8 FTE position will be responsible for, "identifying, advising, mediating and conducting solicited and unsolicited investigations on matters relating to social safety and inappropriate conduct." The primary characteristics of the position are impartiality, independence, and objectivity. 

Applicants must have: "a relevant academic background (e.g. in legal or social sciences) and who is familiar with the relationships existing in a university environment and with university culture, structure and regulations"; familiarity with "labour law and regulations of academic teaching and research (Higher Education and Research Act, WHW)"; "completed training in mediation or, more specifically, in conflict mediation"; and "relevant experience in conflict mediation, complaint handling and customer research"; and speak Dutch and English fluently. The position pays up to € 6,317 gross per month (about $93,200 annually), plus a holiday allowance and year-end bonus. Applications are due by June 20, 2021. (RUG Posting, Vacature.)
