Job Posting: International Monetary Fund

The international financial aid organization based in Washington, DC, is hiring its next Ombudsperson. The search will fill a position held by Thomas Zgambo for the past seven years. The job is planned to start in the Fall of 2023 for an initial three-year period. The appointment may be extended for a second six-year term, for a total maximum of nine years.

Applicants must have an advanced degree with at least 15 years of relevant work experience with supervisory/managerial experience (or an equivalent combination), including substantial professional experience in negotiation and conflict resolution, mediation and conciliation, some at the international level in relevant fields. English fluency is required. Applications are due by August 17, 2023. No salary indicated. (IMF Posting.)

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
