Coastal Carolina University Names Ombuds for Faculty and Staff

After an extended search, the public university near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has appointed Tina L. Cloud as its next Faculty and Staff Ombuds. She follows Renee Smith in the part-time position that reports to CCU's President and practices to IOA standards.

Cloud has a decade of experience in conflict resolution, social work, and professional development. Most recently, she served as a Mediation Program Coordinator and led TLC Strategies. In addition, she was an Assistant Ombudsperson at Georgia State University in 2015-2016. Cloud graduated from Clark Atlanta University and earned a MSW at Washington University in St. Louis. Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals.
