The ninth annual Ombuds Day will be celebrated on Thursday, October 8, 2026, with the theme of “Mediation Meets the Ombuds World.” ABA Dispute Resolution Section Ombuds Day Subcommittee Chair Alec Chapa and event organizers Meg Willoughby and Caroline Adams, provide this explanation:
Ombuds and mediators share many of the same skills and approaches for navigating conflict, communicating across differences, and helping people identify workable options. This Ombuds Day program explores the natural overlap between the two fields through concepts such as shuttle diplomacy, liaison work, and mediating interests between individuals, groups, and organizations.
More details will be posted here as plans develop. (Ombuds Day Blog; ABA Events.)
