The Silicon Valley county is hiring an Associate Ombudsperson. The one-year contract position will provide Ombuds services to individuals and groups vis-à-vis the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services and to assist in the conflict resolution activities of the County’s Dispute Resolution Programs. The Ombuds will also provide policy analysis and feedback.
Applicants should have knowledge of juvenile dependency process and laws affecting child welfare; experience in working with diverse cultures, backgrounds, gender and generational issues, and socio-economic influences; an advanced degree (MA, JD, MDR, MSW, etc.); and membership (or willingness to become a member) in professional associations; in particular, the International Ombudsman Association (IOA), the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution (ABA), etc., in order to stay on the leading edge of critical Ombuds issues.
