The public research university in Storrs, CT is hiring its first Ombuds Officer for faculty and staff. "Under administrative review and reporting to the University President, this position is responsible for designing, implementing and coordinating all aspects of a university Ombuds Office and its operation." The full-time position will practice to IOA standards. The new Ombuds Office will serve the main UConn campus and regional campuses.
Applicants should have a terminal degree in a relevant field, at least three years related experience in higher education, prior experience in an Ombuds or mediator role and employment law, working knowledge of applicable laws governing confidentiality and the protection of information, membership in IOA, and experience working in a unionized environment. Previously, UConn employed a Parking Ombudsman and the Physics Department assigned faculty to serve as Ombuds for student issues.
