The public school district in Kentucky's most populous county and the 28th largest school district in the U.S., has appointed Mindy Eaves as its first Ombudsman. Eaves will fields concerns from the public and from employees. "When you feel like you've tried it all, and you don't know what else to do, you can call the ombudsman," she said.
Eaves began work on June 4 and a website for her office recently went online. According to the website, the JCPS Office of the Ombudsman will practice to IOA standards. Eaves previously worked as a social worker in the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. she has been trained in conflict resolution and mediation, and she has a master's degree in social work.
