University of Florida Appoints First Faculty Ombuds

Florida's "Public Ivy" has named emeritus professor Kenneth J. Gerhardt as the University’s first Ombuds for Faculty. In this part-time position, Gerhardt will work primarily faculty and thus supplementing the services provided by the existing Student Ombuds Office headed by Ronald L. Anderson.

This UF Faculty Ombuds was proposed by the Faculty Welfare Council and supported by the Faculty Senate.  Gerhardt has considerable experience serving as a faculty member in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, as department chair, and as Associate Dean and Interim Dean of the Graduate School. He retired in August of 2013 after 35 years at the University of Florida.
