The public university (and the state's largest employer) is hiring a part-time Faculty Ombudsperson. The search will succeed Michelle Fanucchi, who established the program in 2016. J. Michael Wyss, a professor in the UAB Department of Cell, Developmental
& Integrative Biology is currently serving as the Interim Ombuds. The position reports the the University Provost and serves faculty, mentored graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
Applicants must have a master's degree or higher, and mediation/conflict resolution experience. Preferred qualifications include: Relevant experience in higher education, knowledge of its structure, policies, and practices; and an advanced degree combined with relevant dispute resolution training or Ombuds experience.
