Budget Cuts Lead to Closure of Ombuds Office at MSU Denver

Metropolitan State University of Denver closed its Ombuds Office and terminated the Ombuds, Barbara Beatty, on July 10, 2020. The move was due to a coronavirus-related budget deficit and the University eliminated several other positions as well. The MSU Ombuds Office was opened about seven years ago and Beatty was their second Ombuds, serving for the past two and a half years.
Beatty said she was expecting the closure, but was not sure when it would occur. She intends to continue her conflict resolution work as a contract ombuds and consultant in conflict resolution and can be reached at blbeatty55@gmail.com.
