Iowa State University Ombuds to Retire, MWI to Provide Interim Services

Deanna Clingan-Fischer, ISU's first full-time University Ombuds Officer, has announced that she will retire on August 6, 2020, after three years of service. In an announcement to the campus, the provost said that Ombuds services would be provided on an interim basis remotely by two Ombuds from MWI, a dispute resolution firm based in Boston: Dina Eisenberg and Chuck Doran. No end date for the arrangement was announced. (Inside IA State.)

Dina Eisenberg is an "entrepreneurial lawyer" based in Oakland, California, who has worked as a mediator and Ombuds for decades. She served as an Ombuds for Fleet Bank, the Boston Law Collaborative, and Berklee College of Music. She sits on the Board of MWI. Eisenberg graduated Hofstra University and earned her JD at Suffolk University Law School. (LinkedIn.)

Chuck Doran is the Founder and Executive Director of MWI. As one of the firm's neutrals, he has also provided services as an External Ombuds. Doran graduated from Binghamton University and completed the Harvard Program on Negotiation. (LinkedIn.)
