The United Nations' global development network has opened a search for an Ombudsman Specialist based in Dakar. This is a new position and will assist in the oversight of all UNDP Ombuds operations in Africa. The position reports to the Deputy Ombudsman for UN Funds and Programmes and provides conflict managment services to staff members and non-staff personnel of the UN Funds and Programmes (including UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNOPS and UN Women). Frequent travel to field offices in Africa is required.
Applicants must have Master’s degree in alternative dispute resolution or law (Master’s degrees in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Psychology, Counselling and other social sciences may be considered); Seven years of relevant professional experience, including three years at the international level in ADR and three years in an Ombuds office of an international organization (comparable work experience as a mediator may be considered); and fluency in French and English is required (proficiency in Arabic is a very strong asset).
