University of North Carolina Adds an Associate Ombuds

UNC Chapel Hill has selected Joshua Canzona as its newest Associate Ombuds. Canzona come from the UNC School of the Arts where he established the Ombuds Office in 2017. He joins Dawn Osborne-Adams, University Ombuds and Director, Laurie Mesibov, Associate University Ombuds, and Victoria Dowd, Assistant University Ombuds and Program Specialist.

According to his UNC profile:
Josh taught public high school in Raleigh before working in higher education for the last decade in a variety of staff, faculty, and administrator roles. He also values civic engagement and received a Winston Under 40 Leadership Award from the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce for service in support of the arts and on government committees advancing social justice and anti-poverty initiatives.

As a scholar, Josh maintains research and writing interests in Muslim-Christian understanding and the comparative study of Christian and Islamic mysticism.
Canzona graduated from Loyola University New Orleans, and earned masters degrees from the University of Chicago and Harvard University, and a PhD at Georgetown University. (UNC Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
