2020 Cal Caucus Will be a Short, Virtual Event

Mindful of ongoing pandemic concerns, leaders of the California Caucus of College and University Ombuds will host a shortened, online event this year. The 47th annual event will take place on November 12, 2020. Registration is limited to 100 and is free. The Caucus is expected to fill up quickly and people will be added to a waitlist.

KEYNOTE
Dacher Keltner, Ph.D, is a co-founder of the Greater Good Science Center and its faculty director. After receiving his Ph.D. from Stanford University, Dacher has devoted his career to studying the nature of human goodness, conducting ground-breaking research on compassion, awe, laughter, and love. He is also a leading expert of social intelligence, the psychology of power, and the emotional bases of morality. He has written more than 100 scientific papers and two best-selling textbooks, Social Psychology and Understanding Emotions. More recently, he is the author of The Power Paradox: How We Gain and Lose Influence, and Born to Be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life, and a co-editor of the Greater Good anthology, The Compassionate Instinct. 
ZOOM SMALL CAUCUS
In the spirit of our traditional small caucus afternoon, we will open Zoom breakout rooms where participants can gather in small groups for a time of connection around certain topics, themes or activities (i.e. virtual cooking class, ombudsing over zoom, your favorite tea, etc.). If you would like to host one of these rooms or have a great idea for a topic, theme, or activity, you will have an opportunity to submit your name/idea in the registration process. All ideas are welcome!

The event will be followed by a meeting of the Board of Directors and all participants are welcome to attend.  More information on the board meeting will be forthcoming.
