IOA Board Elects 2025 Leadership

The Board of Directors for the International Ombuds Association has announced the election of its officers for the 2025 term. All are long-time volunteers and professional Ombuds. The IOA Board meets at least monthly, with more meetings for the executive leadership.

The new board leadership team is:

President: Jennifer Mahony, Boston Children's Hospital

President-Elect: Wayne Francis Marriott, CO-OP, Auckland University of Technology

Secretary: Lily Xu, CO-OP, RTX

Treasurer: Amarah Khaan, CO-OP, City of Seattle

Immediate Past-President: Sarah Klaper, Northwestern University

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
