The position requires a master’s degree in conflict resolution, dispute resolution, human resources, organizational development, public administration, higher education administration, or a closely related field; a Juris Doctor; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with at least five years of progressively responsible experience in conflict resolution, mediation, employee or labor relations, or closely related work. Experience as an Ombuds or in another designated-neutral role, formal ADR or conflict-management training, and higher education or public-sector experience are preferred. No salary indicated. NCAT, the public research university and nation's largest HBCU, is seeking its first Ombudsperson to establish and lead a new Ombuds Office to serve faculty and staff. The permanent, full-time position reports to the Chancellor through the Chief of Staff and operates in accordance with IOA standards. The position is hybrid, with part-time work on campus, although employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina within a two-hour commuting distance of the campus in Greensboro.
