Utrecht University Selects Two Staff Ombuds

Universiteit Utrecht, the public research university in the Netherlands, will redesignate its two current Confidential Advisors for Staff as Ombudspersons for Staff. The move bring UU into line with a new labor agreement that requires Staff Ombuds at major Dutch universities. Annemieke Meijer and Frans Pieter Sprik, who have been the Confidential Advisors for Staff for less than a year each, will move into the roles immediately.

With the new designation, Meijer and Sprik will be able to consider a broader range of issues, including structural issues or trends. The Staff Ombuds program will be reevaluated in two years. Meanwhile, UU is also working on the creation of a Student Ombudsperson. (Utrecht DUB; UU Confidential Advisors.)
