North American Network Operators' Group Establishes Ombuds Program

The professional association for Internet engineering, architecture, and operations has appointed Tony Farmer as its first Ombuds. Although not explicitly following IOA standards, a webpage for the program explains that he will provide confidential and informal assistance to NANOG members and help identify systemic issues.

Farmer brings over two and a half decades of private and public sector experience in the role. Most recently, he was the Chief Inclusion Officer at the National Reconnaissance Office. Farmer also currently heads two consulting businesses based in Virginia: Veritas Culture, which provides leadership, culture, and diversity advice and training; and Full Armour Coaching, spiritual life coaching. His resume also includes positions at the General Accounting Office and Booz Allen Hamilton. Farmer graduated from the University Of Maryland Global Campus, earned a coaching certificate from Life Purpose Institute, and a MPA from George Washington University. (NANOG Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
