Eastern Michigan University Appoints New Ombuds

The public university in Ypsilanti has announced the appointment of Kathryn Farkas as its new Ombuds Officer. She follows Julia Heck, who recently moved to an administrative position at Cal State Channel Islands. Farkas will serve a student body of more than 21,000. The office often handles more than 500 cases a year.

For the past two years, Farkas has been the Title IX Administrative & Educational Programming Associate at EMU. She has held several administrative positions at other universities, including the University of Michigan, Community College of Allegheny County, Vanderbilt University, and Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and earned an MA from Eastern Michigan University. She is currently working towards a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at EMU.
