A ballot referendum in March 2020 would increase semesterly fees for the Office of the Ombudsperson at the U of O would increase from $1.06 to $1.50 for undergraduate students. Graduate students at the bilingual public research university in Ontario are also considering a similar referendum.
University Ombuds Martine Conway said that her office has not seen a funding increase since it was launched back in 2010. Nonetheless, the cases handled by the uOttawa Ombuds have risen from 174 in 2010-11 to 650 in 2018-19. (The Fulcrum.)
