University of Utah Health Sciences Appoints Next Two Ombuds

The academic health care system based in Salt Lake City has named Casi A. Morales and Joan Sheetz as its next Ombudsmen. Together, they serve more than 14,000 faculty and staff, and take on Ombuds duties part-time. They succeed Jim Ruble and Michael Cohen, who established the program five years ago. Morales has worked at the University of Utah since 2013 and is currently a Grants & Contracts Manager in the Department of Pediatrics. She graduated from the University of Idaho and earned a JD from Seattle University School of Law. Last year, she completed a graduate certificate in conflict resolution from the University of Utah. Sheetz has been a faculty member since 2007. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Palliative Care Program and is a Professor of Pediatrics. She graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Utah. Sheetz also earned a certificate in Conflict Resolution from the University of Utah. (LinkedIn.)
