Santa Clara University Debuts Ombuds Office

David Galán has been appointed the first Ombudsperson for the private, Jesuit university in Silicon Valley, California. In this new, full-time position Galan will serve Santa Clara's faculty and staff, practicing to IOA standards, and reporting to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Galan has mediating and facilitating since 2011. In 2017, he joined the Office of Mediation and Ombuds Services as a community mediator and expanded into other roles. He served as an Ombuds for the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Child Services, serving parents, social workers, to help navigate the challenging landscape of the Juvenile welfare system and to help improve communication between parents and social workers for better outcomes.
