Texas State University Appoints First Staff Ombuds

This fall, Stella Silva will begin offering services as the first Staff Ombuds at Texas State. She joins Todd Jewell and Colleen Myles-Baltzly, who were selected to serve as Faculty Ombuds in June of this year. The two programs are not integrated, however. The Staff Ombuds office is located within the university's human resources department. Noentheless, the Staff Ombuds office generally operates to IOA standards.

Silva has worked at Texas State for over two decades, most recently as Manager of Diversity Initiatives. She earned three degrees at the University of Texas Austin: BFA, MA Ed, and PhD. Jewell is a Professor of Finance and Economics and has been a member of the faculty since 2014. He graduated from Pepperdine University and earned his Master's and PhD at UC Santa Barbara. Myles is Associate Professor of Geography and has been a member of the faculty since 2013. She graduated from Sonoma State University and earned her MS and PhD at UC Davis.
