Job Posting: Queen's University

The public research university in Kingston, Ontario, is hiring a part-time Associate Ombudsperson for a one-year appointment. The remote-eligible position will report to Queen's Ombuds, Lavonne Hood, and provide services to students, staff, faculty, and community members.

Applicants must have a related Bachelor's degree and four to seven years of relevant experience. A law degree and experience in higher education are preferred. No salary indicated. Applications are due July 7, 2022. (Job Posting.)

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
