University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School Names First Ombuds

Pitt's liberal arts college, The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, has created an Ombuds program for faculty, staff, and students. Lisa Lang is the inaugural Ombudsperson and Director of the Office of the Ombuds. She manages a team that currently includes four part-time, collateral duty Ombuds: Philippa Carter, Graduate Ombudsperson; Deb Artim, Faculty Ombuds; Amy Flick, Faculty Ombuds; and Brent Malin, Faculty Ombuds. Lang has worked at the university for over three decades, most recently as the Dietrich School of the Arts and Sciences’ Director of Executive Operations and Executive Administrator to the Dean. She is earned her MSW at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. (LinkedIn.)

The other Ombuds also continue in other campus roles: Carter is Director of Diversity Initiatives and Academic Affairs in the graduate studies’ office; Artim is a teaching associate professor in the Department of Neuroscience; Flick is a teaching professor and advisor in the Department of English; and Malin is an associate professor in the Department of Communication.
