Peruse Ombuds Dissertations at Nova Southeastern University


The Department of Conflict Resolution Studies at NSU Florida has been publishing its students' theses and dissertations since 2012. Four dissertations in the past two years have looked at the work of Ombuds and all are available online:


  • "Human Resource Professionals and Ombuds: Perceptions, Challenges, and Benefits of Their Working Relationship and Interactions A Qualitative Descriptive Study" (2024 dissertation), Herbert S. Ambrose [Employee Services & Operations Manager at NSU]
  • "An Exploratory Study of Ombuds as Agents of Change: From Observation to Action" (2024 Dissertation), Michael A. Wahlgren [current position unknown]
  • "Competencies of Ombuds in Higher Education" (2023 dissertation), Alicia Booker [Ombuds at Baylor College of Medicine]
  • "Navigating the Human Side of Workplace Conflict: A Comparative Study of Organizational Ombuds' Similarities and Differences" (2021 dissertation), Linda Kovack [Ombuds and Principal of Coastal Conflict Resolutions]
Neil Katz, a professor who became the college's first Ombuds in 2022, was an advisor for most of the dissertations. (NSU Works.)
